In this video, I offer some comments on the idea that AI is coming to take all of our jobs. One of the other candidates in this race has gotten excited by this idea—but years of covering Silicon Valley hype has made me a little more skeptical.

I argue, as usual, that instead of jumping on the bandwagon of these speculative scenarios, we should stay focused on the real big picture, which is the need to defend our democracy, rein in out-of-control executive power, and restore the power of the US Congress.
Astute readers will also notice that quality Star Wars reference, including the fact that the “phantom menace” in George Lucas’s saga was also clankers artificial intelligence.
